Description:Penda Street, Yungaburra GPS Co-ordinates 17°16'12.3"S 145°34'44.8"E Altitude 705 metres Distance to Cairns International Airport 74 kms Population 600 Peterson Creek Wildlife & Botanical Walking Track is located in the heart of Yungaburra where you may be able to view platypus, the rare Lumholtz’s Tree-Kangaroo, local birdlife, the unique ‘Lloyd’s Suspension Bridge’, historical objects along the creek and more. Local groups of volunteers have planted thousands of native trees to assist in reforestation. The track is 2.3 kilometres starting from the Platypus Viewing Platform, Gillies Highway Yungaburra. NOTE: The first section has been closed due to a biosecurity issue so the trail must now be accessed via Penda Street. The out and back forested route begins from the Platypus Viewing Platform just off the Gillies Highway. The trail itself features nice clear paths as it follows along Peterson's Creek, leading you out to meet the Geoff Tracey Botanical Track where there is a nice lookout from the bridge over the creek.
