North Ipswich is the birthplace of Queensland Railway and is a heritage inner city suburb of Ipswich boasting an eclectic mix of business, historical school, timber church, timber houses and wide streets. The suburb contains a large number of character and heritage listed houses, such as workers cottages that were home to the many railway workers.
