Description:Brisbane City Hall is a grand and fully restored, Italian Renaissance building built between the 1920s and 1930s, which stands next to King George Square. It is a popular venue for weddings and other events. The main entrance has strong Corinthian columns and a tympanum depicting the European settlement of Queensland. Inside, the building is decorated with chandeliers, vaulted ceilings, and mosaic tiled floors. There is a stately marble staircase in the foyer leading to a mezzanine floor. There are numerous dining rooms, sitting rooms, and council chambers throughout the building. The Main Auditorium is nine-hundred-and-twenty square metres large and its neoclassical design is based on that of the Pantheon in Rome. Magically, the room has no columns and instead has the largest copper dome in Australia at thirty-one metres. Its stage is home to a historic pipe organ from 1892. City Hall has an impressive ninety-two metres tall clock tower with a face five metres in diameter. At the time it was built, it was the largest clock tower in Australia. To keep the locals happy, the clock does not chime on weekends. There is a lot on offer at Brisbane City Hall and other features of the building include a World War II signature wall, the Museum of Brisbane, and two on-site cafes. Located 61km (38 miles / 42 min) from Village Roadshow Studios. The nearest airport is Brisbane Airport (BNE). The closest POH, Brisbane City, is 650m (0.4 miles / 5 min) away.
