Tully is a small town within the Cassowary Coast Region of Far North Queensland with a population of 2,390 people. Tully is 140 kilometres (87 mile) south of Cairns by road and is the closest international airport. The economic base of the region is agriculture with bananas and sugarcane that is processed at the Tully Sugar Mill. Tully has a tropical rainforest climate with an average rainfall exceeding 4,000 millimetres (160 inches).
