Toowoomba, nicknamed 'The Garden City' lies 125 km (78 mi) west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane by road. Toowoomba is on the crest of the Great Dividing Range, around 700 metres (2,300 ft) above sea level. The second-most-populous inland city in the country after Canberra, Toowoomba is among the largest regional centres in Queensland. The city hosts the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers each September.
