Description:
Maroon Dam is a water storage and recreational dam in South East Queensland. The dam lies 25 km south of Boonah, within the Scenic Rim at the foot of the McPherson Range. Maroon Dam releases water through cone valves instead of a spillway. The lake is home to an abundance of wildlife. Activities permitted (April 2019) include sailing, paddle craft, pwc, boating, water skiing, fishing (SIPS), camping (private operator). Special dispensation may be granted for swimming on a case by case situation - approval times can take up to 8 weeks. Located 121km (75 miles / 1 hr 45 mins) from Village Roadshow Studios. The nearest airport is Brisbane Airport (BNE). The closest POH, Brisbane City, is 116km (72 miles / 1 hr 40 mins) away.
