Description:Great Keppel Island is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park off the coast of the township of Yeppoon. The island is surrounded by 27 kilometres (17 mi) of beaches, as well as extensive coral reefs. Leekes Beach has a length of 4.81 kilometres. A long stretch of white sand, with rocks to scramble on. Leekes Creek is a sheltered inlet. The salt water creek runs parallel to the island’s beachfront. Access to the island by small aircraft from Rockhampton or via ferries from Rosslyn Bay near Yeppoon.
