Description:Lined with palm trees and large rocky hillsides diving each bay, Horseshoe Bay is one of the most popular and picturesque beaches in Bowen. Composed of rounded granite rocks and boulders, the whole cape includes the famous landmark Mother Beddock, which is a large, round boulder perched only 100m above Kings Beach. Horseshoe Bay beach is only 150m (164 yards) in length and is bordered by large, rounded granite boulder-headlands. Amenities close to the bay include a car park (20 spaces), kiosk, an amenities block and a shady picnic area, all close to two small, hidden away resorts. The beach usually receives quite low waves, which combine with the medium to coarse granitic sand to build a steep beach at high tide. It is rare at Horseshoe Bay for there to be surf, currents and/or rips. However, precaution is still needed when going swimming or snorkelling around the rocks. It is a popular spot to go fishing, and there is a boat ramp in adjoining Greys Bay. Located 1225km (761.2 miles/ 14 hrs 6min) from Village Roadshow Studios. The nearest airport is the Proserpine Airport (PPP)approx- 1 hour 40 minute flight from Brisbane Airport (BNE). The closest POH, Brisbane City, is 1162km (722 miles/ 13 hr 40 mins) away.
