Description:
The historical colonial landmark building, established in 1862 but extensively remodelled in 1880 to its current size and architectural style, a fine example of the Victorian classical English-Italianate architectural revival in the most historic area of Brisbane’s CBD. The surrounding area is home to some of the city’s historic colonial buildings, Botanical Gardens, cobbled stone streets, stone gateways and beautiful tree lined streets. The two level stone building features the quintessential iron laced wrap-around verandas, along stone column colonnades linking each entrance and projecting bays. In 1988 the heritage building became part of the then, newly built Stamford Plaza Hotel. The building is now home to award winning restaurants and high-end lounge bars. Although continuous internal renovations have kept the interiors current and fashionable for the discerning guests of the luxury hotel, the internal architecture remains true to its 1880’s heritage. The property offers both indoor and outdoor venues with an Italianesque courtyard with fountain to take in the Brisbane CBD river views. Located 60km (37 miles/ 40mins) from Village Roadshow Studios. The nearest airport is Brisbane Airport (BNE). The closest POH, Brisbane City, is 550metres (0.34 miles/ 4mins) away.
