Description:Fernvale is a small country village in South East Queensland, Australia. Approximately 60 kilometres west of Brisbane, it lies on the Brisbane River, at the southern end of the Somerset region. In the 1860s, the area was known for its cotton farming in the Brisbane Valley, but flooding soon destroyed the industry. Popular tourist attractions in Fernvale include the Sunday morning Fernvale Markets, fishing, swimming and boating along the Brisbane River. The nearby Wivenhoe Dam also offers similar opportunities, as well as providing camping facilities and an ideal place to use non fuelled boats. The town’s old railway also provides a fantastic cycling, walking and horse riding trail, which is around 148km long. Recently, the Fernvale Futures Complex was developed to give visitors the chance to access a conference room, community activities and information about the history of the town. Located 97.6km (60.6 miles/ 1 hr 7mins) from Village Roadshow Studios. The nearest airport is Brisbane Airport (BNE). The closest POH, Brisbane City, is 60.7km (37.7 miles/ 55 mins) away.
