Description:
Carlisle Island is part of the Cumberland Group of islands and is situated just off Mackay neighbouring Brampton Island. The Island is wholly National Park and is filled with five-hundred-and-eighteen hectares of dense eucalypt forest and rainforest. There are inland tidal pools and the Island is surrounded by coral reef. At low tide, visitors can journey along the sandbank to Brampton Island. There is no infrastructure on the Island except for a campground. Facilities include: drinking water; shelter; picnic area; and toilets. Located roughly 1100km (684 miles / 12hrs) from Village Roadshow Studios. The nearest airport is Mackay Airport (MKY). Boat transfers are available from Mackay and Brampton Island. Flights take approximately one-and-a-half hours from Brisbane Airport (BNE). The closest POH, Brisbane City, is about 1000km (621 miles / 11 hrs 30 mins) away.
