Description:Barcaldine is a small town, which was an important part of the Australian labour movement. There are several historic sites including, what became a symbol of the strike, the Tree of Knowledge Monument. Several old timer buildings, such as the Court House and St Peters Anglican Church (1899), are situated around the town. Another historic building, built in 1908 as a bank, is the Masonic Lodge. However, one of the most unique places in Barcaldine is the Radio Theatre. It opened in 1926 playing silent movies. The Theatre is running today and still has canvas seats.
