Hornibrook Pier

Australia / Brighton (Qld), Queensland
Location ID: #10234991

Hornibrook Bridge is a heritage-listed mostly-demolished road bridge on the Hornibrook Highway over Hays Inlet at Bramble Bay from Brighton, City of Brisbane to Clontarf, Moreton Bay Region, Queensland. Handsome art-deco concrete abutment arches frame the entry and exit approaches. The bridge closed to traffic in 1979. The Ted Smout Memorial Bridge opened to traffic in July 2010, as well as providing pedestrian and cyclist access. As the Hornibrook Bridge was then no longer needed for pedestrian and cyclist access, it was closed on 14 July 2010. Despite the heritage listing of the Hornibrook Bridge in 1994, safety concerns about the rotting deck timbers led to the decision to demolish most of the bridge in mid 2011, retaining the north and south portals and 100 metres (330 ft) of bridge at the northern end for use by fishermen.

Hornibrook Pier is located 31km (26 minutes) from Screen Queensland Studios, Brisbane
