Hallorans Hill Conservation Park

Australia / Atherton, Queensland
Location ID: #10157708

Hallorans Hills Conservation Park protects eucalypt forest and a remnant of the endangered Mabi forest on an extinct volcanic cone. The cone is part of the legacy of the tableland's fiery geological past.
The expansive views from the summit exhibit the tableland's mosaic of land use and geological formations.

From the summit, the walking track meanders through endangered Mabi forest. The name Mabi is derived from a local Aboriginal word for the near threatened (rare) Lumholtz's tree-kangaroo, the largest mammal found in this rainforest. Mabi forest is a threatened ecosystem with less than four per cent of the original forest remaining. It is only found on the Atherton Tableland, and once covered the area south and east of Atherton.
