Hinze Dam was built in 1976 and is the source of the Gold Coast’s primary water supply and is operated by SEQ.
The Western Boat Ramp is one of two boat ramps located at Hinze Dam. Electric powered watercraft, sail craft and paddle craft are permitted on the lake.
You can fish from the shoreline or from your watercraft, however, a fishing permit is required. Fishers are advised to release and not eat fish from Hinze Dam because of the levels of naturally-occurring mercury.
